Co-Founders Alison Blumberg and Hanna Mandelbaum
Evermore has been obsessively making high-quality, ethically sourced, gently cooked food for dogs (and now cats!) since 2009.
For many years, the company was the sum of the efforts of two women, neither of whom could foresee that one day, they would devote their lives to making the best pet food possible.
In hindsight, the fact that our paths converged feels very much like fate.
In business school, students are warned: You want to build a business? You need at least two years of savings, a stack of market research and an elaborate business plan demonstrating why your project can’t fail (despite the fact that 9 out of every 10 businesses do).
We didn’t have any of these things when we started. We were curious and industrious; we had open hearts, and more grit than we knew was in us. Serendipity and plain luck also played a role.
Over years meeting thousands of pet parents and industry professionals, Alison and I and have often been faced with two questions, both of which one would expect: “How did the company start?” and “how did you come up with your recipes?”
For the CEOs of many companies these kinds of questions have easy answers. But in this case (as in many others), Evermore is a different kind of company. The answers are intertwined, and while they have shorter versions, we feel are best told as a story.
This is that story.
